Marrying Beauty to Accessibility

As experts in accessibility, we were a natural fit to work with the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP). We designed this brochure, a promotional piece, in a double-gatefold format, using high-contrast text to ensure legibility for people with low vision. The unique beehive shape conveys a busy community, visually echoing IAAP’s mission to bring accessibility professionals together under one organizational umbrella. The brochure was printed on FSC-certified paper. The PDF version was redesigned to fit a typical 8.5 x 11-inch format, using fewer pages and less ink—making it more environmentally and wallet friendly when printing on an inkjet printer. But the real magic happened when we turned our attention to the digital version. We designed it to interact with screen readers and other accessibility devices, making it fully accessible to those with disabilities. Copy, images, logos and links were organized so that everything can be read aloud, in the correct order, making this piece an end-to-end accessible and sustainable experience.
